Elizabeth, I think your poem highlights the wide range of human emotions we can feel. How interesting that tears represent two of the opposite sides of the spectrum--happiness and sorrow. I like how your poem begins to explore the interpersonal nature of emotion--how it can "bond you together / or tear you apart." Thanks for sharing!
The last line changes the tone of the whole poem, and the poem can be read either way to express a different meaning. The language helped me experience each facet of the topic.
I love all of the feeling you bring to this piece of poetry. It makes me want to laugh and cry all at the same time. It is a bit of a stress relieving poem, even though it is sad and deep, it makes me feel pure peace. I love the controversy between the tears and your fight with what it all means. Its super profound!
I wonder what event had lead you to think of a poem like this, you must have experienced both! I can relate to this poem in many forms, and I think you could compete with Alexander Pope! I am happy to see that this poem takes a twist because it is true, tears can bond or break, and I personally love it!
I like how you explain tears in two instances (sadness and joy) and the effects of them. You go back and forth with the types of tears, which conveys two different emotions. It is a smart way to explain how humans feel joy and sadness and sometimes react to both in the same way.
This poem was very powerful, and the way you brought in a comparison of both happy and sad tears made this an even better poem. The way you made this poem a black and white/ kind of comparison of both happy and sad emotion. Excellent work!
